Roger Bennett as the 'Artist in Residence'
Nanteos Mansion are delighted to announce the appointment of local artist and poet Roger Bennett as the 'Artist in Residence' until March 2019.
Roger produces art in a wide range of medium and across a wide range of subjects. Roger has recently begun making in-roads to Portraiture, having for the last three years been primarily concerned with Landscape and the Sea. Roger uses oil paints, watercolours, acrylics, ink, soft pastels, oil pastels, charcoal, pencils in their various formats, poetry and mono-printing to produce his art.
Formerly the County Fire and Rescue Commander for Ceredigion prior to promotion to a strategic role at Service Headquarters, Roger retired from the fire service in 2010. Roger has always been competent at drawing and Pen and Ink studies, but began his true artistic journey in 2015. Roger is a current art student with 'Lifelong Learning' at Aberystwyth University where he has just completed an 'Introduction To Art' course, having previously attended watercolour and separate pastel drawing courses.
We intend to host three exhibitions of Roger's work during 2018 and early 2019. The first will commence on Sunday the 10th June, showcasing Portraiture that he has created this Winter and is currently working on. He will be painting in the billiard room for a week giving you the opportunity to meet him in person and see him at work.
The second will be a selection of 'Seascapes' to tie in with 2018 being the Year of the Sea, and the third exhibition will bring together the art that Roger produces specifically for and about Nanteos Mansion; its building, people, and grounds. (Dates are to be confirmed)
Roger and Nanteos look forward to welcoming you.
